Bazooka JOI #1

I fell into a weird hole RE: Bazooka Joe, where I briefly tried to research more about the comic icon. As it turns out, there’s not much to know about Bazooka Joe and friends. I do know that the Bazooka Joe corporation has decided to stop making comics, which I assume means that the characters are now in the public domain. Luckily, my penetration into the zine/comix market is so terrible that it’s unlikely that whoever holds the copyright is going to sue. Plus, like fair use, or whatever. Also, the characters are named slightly different things.

My only real history with Bazooka Joe is that one time my dad got a bucket full of the gum (comix included) from the Costco that he would keep in the store room where it, somehow, got even more stale and  rock-like. I don’t know how that happened. I think at that point they had done the 90s grunge re-design of all the characters which for some reason included the very ““““topical”””” character of Metaldude. Yeah, I don’t know either.
